This is a nice little book (almost a pocket size volume). It contains information compiled from volumes of Koreana (also listed on amazon). It doesn't really contain any information on the construction of hanbok, but it does have a reasonably detailed little history, with information about the forms, color schemes, and symbolism in hanbok. It also goes over what kinds of hanbok were worn by different social classes historically, and contemporary hanbok and its influence in fashion internationally. Overall, it's a very interesting book, and certainly still helpful for anyone who plans on buying or making one, even if it doesn't tell you how to do it.

Beautiful book! Small but very clear and detailed look on the timeline , history, and the underlying symbolisms in Traditional Korean clothing. Amazing! This book is also good as a reference for those interested in fashion, history, and or culture. I feel I learnt a lot. It talks about the changes and development that Hanbok went through, internal influences, external influences and the general social dynamics and changes that took place on the Korean Peninsula as time moved forward.

I got it because I was to make a Hanbok for my grandson and hoped to understand more about its importance to a 100-day celebration for a baby. I learned much about the history of adult Hanbok, but not about outfits for children. However, seeing my daughter-in-law's mother's great appreciation for the outfit I sewed our grandson said it all to me.
